[Santa Fe] - Tonight, Deb Haaland was declared the winner of the democratic primary race for Governor of New Mexico. As of 8pm, polls show her leading by 46% over Bregman, indicating strong voter favor for Haaland’s community- and affordability-centered platform. Haaland now moves forward to the general election, where she will run against the winner of the Republican Primary.
In response, CVNM Chief Executive Officer issued the following statement:
“Tonight, New Mexicans are clear that they want strong leadership that understands what is at stake for our communities. Families are facing rising costs, including energy and water bills skyrocketing from Trump’s reckless decisions. Haaland has made these issues a central part of her commitment to New Mexicans, and has been clear that she will stand with our people, not big polluters or corporate interests.
“The outcomes of this primary race also highlight a growing trend of election outcomes across the country, as voters seek candidates who will center democracy, the environment, and our collective humanity in office. The time is now for New Mexico to elect decision-makers, like Deb Haaland, who will lead with courage, integrity, and community partnership. We look forward to standing with Haaland in the general election this November.”
