Green Gov 2026

WHO WE ARE
Green Gov 2026 is a project of Conservation Voters New Mexico (CVNM) Action Fund, a nonpartisan “coordinated” political action committee (PAC) that works to elect pro-conservation candidates and to defeat anti-conservation candidates at the state level up to the amount allowed by New Mexico campaign finance laws. Through CVNM Action Fund, we let voters know that—for New Mexico’s air, land, water and communities—who we elect matters.
CVNM Action Fund’s endorsement process aims to reinforce accountability and achieve the strongest possible climate, conservation, and democracy policy outcomes from our elected leaders and state agencies. The process is conducted separately for the Primary and General elections. Our goal is to identify candidates who represent the best opportunity to enact pro-climate and pro-conservation policy.
CVNM Action Fund launched Green Gov 2026 to highlight the importance of statewide leadership to address the most urgent challenges of our time: tackling climate change and the increasingly frequent and extreme weather and drought, protecting our air, land and water from pollution, defending an open and accessible democracy, and creating diverse opportunities for hard-working New Mexicans. Endorsed candidates featured on Green Gov 2026 have been vetted through CVNM Action Fund's rigorous endorsement process to identify Gubernatorial candidates who will build the future New Mexicans deserve.

CLIMATE & ENERGY
Solar. Wind. Geothermal. Efficiency. Clean, renewable energy sources can and should power our homes, businesses, and lives. They can lower energy prices, provide stability to our economy, and create good paying jobs that don't harm workers and communities. New Mexicans must also have the resources to prepare for weather disasters like flood, fire, drought, and heat.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
Adam Caar

WATER
Our families deserve safe water to drink and grow our crops. We deserve clean water for wildlife and outdoor recreation. Water is life for New Mexicans, and our leaders must do all they can to protect it for all of our communities and future generations.

LAND & WILDLIFE
The land feeds our families, wildlife and the economy. Our public lands and wildlife bring communities together and allow us to hunt, hike, and recreate. They create jobs that drive local economies in rural towns and cities. Protecting these lands and our wildlife is a part of our identity as New Mexicans and ensures that our families have what they need to thrive.

DEMOCRACY
Access to the ballot box is essential for a democracy that represents all New Mexicans. At a time when democracy is being dismantled across the country, New Mexico can shine as a state where voting and civic involvement are easier for all.
